Chicken Shawarma is a flavorful Middle Eastern dish made by marinating chicken with spices, grilled to perfection, and served with a creamy garlic yoghurt sauce.

  • 1 pound chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Pita bread for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, and minced garlic to create a marinade.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the marinade, mixing thoroughly and let it marinate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the marinated chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side or until fully cooked.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix yoghurt with lemon juice and a pinch of salt to create the garlic yoghurt sauce.
  6. Serve the grilled chicken wrapped in pita bread with the garlic yoghurt sauce.
