  • 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 ounces turkey bacon, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gruyère or Cheddar)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Heat gently.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with half the turkey bacon and half the cheese.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the layered potatoes.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, bacon, cheese, and cream mixture.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, omit turkey bacon and add more cheese.
  • Try using different types of cheese for varied flavors.
