A delightful take on classic French toast featuring a creamy, custard-like base reminiscent of crème brûlée.

  • 6 slices brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Arrange the brioche slices in a baking dish and pour the egg mixture over them. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Bake the French toast for 45 minutes, until golden brown.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar on top and broil for 2-3 minutes until caramelized.
