  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Add the canned tomatoes, vegetable broth, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
