- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rest for 1 hour, covered with a cloth.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Roll out the dough and cut it into circles.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, mozzarella, sausage, Parmesan, oregano, and garlic powder.
- Place filling on one half of each dough circle and fold over to seal.
- Place calzones on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, omit sausage.
- Calzones can be frozen for up to 3 months.
